Bob had a piano in his bedroom from the age of six (it was too heavy to get up the stairs to his dad's room where it belonged). He wrote the notes on all the keys in pencil but it didn't help. He has absolutely no musical ability at all but discovered that he had a knack for writing copious amounts of appalling poetry when he discovered girls. By wandering through the wrong door at the wrong time he found himself inadvertently in the charts a couple of times (thus disqualifying himself from 'one-hit -wonder' status). Ric and Bob often sing at the same time which helps to disguise the fact that Bob can only sing one note - Eb.
